„Towards a FHIR Specification for Research in Ophthalmology: Designing the EyeMatics Core Data Set for Multi-centric Data Integration“ The methodology and interim results of developing a standardized core data set for ophthalmology were presented to an interested expert audience at the annual meeting of the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology (GMDS) on September 8, 2025.

Approval of the 2nd funding phase
We were delighted to receive the funding decision for the second funding phase (May 1, 2025 – February 29, 2028) in January. The project was initially tranched and the funds for the second half were blocked subject to the positive evaluation of the interim report. Now that we have received the decision for the remaining project funds, nothing stands in the way of our work.

We are pleased that we were able to publish the project concept in a first publication entitled “EyeMatics: An Ophthalmology Use Case within the German Medical Informatics Initiative” in the journal JMIR Medical Informatics.

Two-Day KICK-OFF MEETING
MÜNSTER
The joint project “EyeMatics” (Eye Diseases Treated with Interoperable Medical Informatics) was launched with a successful two-day kick-off event in Münster. A total of 33 people from seven different locations took part in the hybrid meeting.
